What is the Safe & Sound Protocol?

The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is a five-hour therapeutic listening intervention designed to calm the nervous system and improve how you connect with the world. By listening to specially filtered music, SSP stimulates the vagus nerve, which plays a vital role in regulating emotional and physiological states. This process helps you achieve a sense of safety, opening the door to better communication, self-regulation, and overall mental health.

How does SSP work?

SSP works by delivering filtered music through headphones, which interacts directly with the vagus nerve. This gentle stimulation helps to reduce the physiological response to stress, improve emotional control, and enhance your ability to engage socially. The protocol is non-invasive and can be administered both in-person and remotely.

During the sessions, you will listen to soothing, specially curated music designed to calm the body's fight-or-flight response and facilitate a state of relaxation and safety. This enables deeper engagement in therapy and promotes long-lasting emotional resilience.

Benefits of SSP

  • Improved Emotional Regulation: Experience better control over your emotions and reactions to stress.

  • Improve Relationships: SSP fosters improved communication and connection with others by calming social engagement systems.

  • Reduction in Anxiety, Stress and PTSD Symptoms: The protocol helps alleviate symptoms associated with trauma, anxiety, and PTSD.

  • Increased Resilience: Strengthen your nervous system’s ability to handle everyday stressors and challenges.
